Privacy policy
Kikko collects nothing.
Last updated 1 November 2026.
The short version
Kikko doesn’t collect any data about you or your meetings. Its App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected. There is no account, no sign-in and no server of ours for anything to go to. The Kikko app itself has no permission to use the network: macOS’s sandbox stops it from opening a connection.
What Kikko stores, and where
- Recordings, transcripts, your notes and summaries are ordinary files (Markdown and .m4a audio) in the folder you choose on your Mac. We never receive them.
- Speech is transcribed on your Mac by Apple’s on-device speech recognition. macOS may download the speech model for your language from Apple the first time; that is between your Mac and Apple.
- Summaries are made on your Mac by Apple Intelligence, unless you choose a cloud provider with your own key (see below).
- A search index and Kikko’s settings are kept in Kikko’s own storage on your Mac.
- API keys you add are stored in your Mac’s Keychain.
- The microphone and your Mac’s sound are used only while you record, and macOS asks your permission first.
What leaves your Mac, and only if you choose it
Cloud summaries with your own key
If you add a key for Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or xAI (Grok) and choose that provider, then when you ask for a summary Kikko sends that provider the transcript text and your notes for that one meeting, with the meeting’s title, date and attendee names. It never sends the audio, never other meetings, and nothing in the background.
The request goes from your Mac straight to the provider over an encrypted connection, using your key; we have no server in between and see none of it. It is made by a small helper inside Kikko, the only part of Kikko that is allowed to use the network, and only for this. Kikko shows you what will be sent, and to whom, before the first request and asks you to confirm. Every meeting summarised this way is marked with a cloud symbol, permanently. The provider handles the request under its own terms and data policy. You can switch back to Apple on-device in Kikko’s Settings → AI at any time.
Calendar
If you connect your calendar, Kikko reads event titles, times and attendees on your Mac to name meetings. It never changes or uploads events.
Purchases
Kikko Unlock is bought through the Mac App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app which purchase you have; we don’t see your card or your Apple Account details.
Crash reports
If you turned on Share with app developers in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash reports with us in a form that doesn’t identify you. Turn the setting off to stop.
What we never do
No analytics, tracking or advertising code is in the app, and no advertising identifiers are used. We don’t sell or share data: there is none to sell.
Keeping and deleting your data
Everything Kikko makes is an ordinary file on your Mac, so you decide how long it stays. To delete a meeting, delete its files. Deleting the app leaves your meetings where they are; its settings and search index stay in ~/Library/Containers/lt.anemo.kikko until you delete that folder too, and API keys stay in your Keychain until you remove them in Kikko’s Settings → AI or in Keychain Access. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.
This website
kikkonotes.com sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and has no forms. Fonts are served from this site.
- Hosting. Vercel hosts the site. Its servers keep standard request logs (your IP address, the page you asked for and your browser) to deliver the site and keep it safe, as Vercel’s privacy notice describes.
- Visit counts. Vercel Web Analytics records each page view: the page, the site you came from, your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. It tells visits apart with a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so it can’t recognise you on another day or follow you to other sites. We use the totals to see which pages are read.
- The film. The video on the home page is hosted on YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; then the video plays in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), under Google’s privacy policy.
We count visits because we have a legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is read (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). The count runs in JavaScript: turn it off and nothing is counted, and the site reads the same.
If you write to hello@kikkonotes.com, we keep your message only to answer it and for as long as the conversation needs, then delete it. Ask, and we delete it sooner.
Children
Kikko isn’t directed at children under 13, and collects no data from anyone.
